GEORGE LAFAYETTE SHEPLETT
George Lafayette Sheplett, retired stock dealer, died at [torn] o'clock this morning at his home near Boonesville, after an extended illness. He was a native of Rockingham County, son of the late L. H. and Jennie Bruce Sheplett, and was 73 years of age. Besides his wife, he is survived by six children--Mrs. Brice Walton of Boonesville, Mrs. Thomas Musto of Cuba, NY, Mrs. George Austin of Free Union, Mrs. Levi Austin of Dundalk, Md., Mrs. Dewey Garrison of Sparrows Point, MD., and Mrs. D.S. Morris of Mt. Fair. Mr. Sheplett also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Charles Bruce of Washington and Mrs. B.S. Madison of Buchanan. The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon from Prize Hill Church, the service to be conducted by the Rev. Freeman Fisk. Interment will follow in the churchyard.

Memorial services were held Jan. 21 in Boones Mill, VA. LAURA SHEPLETT MORRIS
Laura "Shortie" Sheplett Morris, 97, of Boonesville, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 20, 1903, in Boonesville, daughter of the late George L. and Alice Madison Sheplett. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel S. Morris Sr., on February 14, 1967; her sisters, Maude S. Walton, Gertrude S. Musto, Ethel S. Austin, Temple S. Austin and Pearle S. Garrison. She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, where as organist she touched the lives of many in the community with her gift of music. She was a founding member of the Prize Hill Cemetery Association Women's Auxiliary, helping to raise money to build the new chapel and establish a fund for perpetual care of the cemetery. She retired at age 72 from Morton's Frozen Foods in Crozet. Mrs. Morris is survived by her sons, Daniel S. Morris Jr. and his wife, Frances, of Boonesville, and Hensel B. Morris and his wife, Charlotte, of Earlysville; grandchildren, Kathryn M. Mawyer of Free Union, Daniel S. Morris III and his wife, Jane, of Boonesville, Beth M. Perkins and her husband, Bruce, of Ruckersville, Lisa M. Pence and her husband, Chuck, of Louisa, and Jay P. Morris and his wife, Vicky, of Ruckersville; a special grand-niece, Kelley C. Walton of Charlottesville; great-grandchildren, Sara and Cameron Mawyer, Shelley Brubeck and her husband, John, Sean, Laura and Andrew Perkins, Sydney Pence and Amber Morris; great-great-grandchildren, Brittany, Rebekah, Peter and Benjamin Brubeck. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Alexander Livesay and J. Robert Thomas, Lay Pastoral Leader officiating. Interment will follow in Prize Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Teague Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Prize Hill Cemetery Association, Box 218, Free Union, Va. 22940; or Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 7420 Mission Home Road, Free Union, Va. 22940. Teague Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

MAUDE SHEPLETT WALTON
Maude Sheplett Walton, 101, of Simpson, W. Va., formerly of Boonesville, died Thursday, April 4, 1991, in Grafton City Hospital. Born Oct. 30, 1889, in Boonesville, she was a daughter of the late George and Alice Madison Sheplett. She was the widow of Brice Walton. Mrs. Walton was a member of Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church in Boonesville. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martin (Geneva) Hustead of Simpson, W. Va., and Hazel Graham of Baltimore, Md.; two sons Burnes "Mike" Walton of Baltimore and Forrest Walton of Boonesville; three sisters, Pearl Garrison and Carrie Austin, both of Baltimore, and Laura Morris of Boonesville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carletta L. Sullivan, and three sons, Claude "Pete" Walton, Wade H. Walton and Brice Walton, Jr. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Prize Hill Church by Dr. William Mengebier and the Rev. C. C. Kurtz. Burial will follow in Prize Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Rd. The family suggests contributions to Prize Hill Cemetery, Association, HCR 1, Box 89, Free Union 22940
