Mrs. Packey Maude Davis died at 5 o'clock yesterday morning at the residence of her adopted daughter Mrs. Gilbert Sullivan near Free Union following an extended illness. She was a native of Greene County daughter of the late Bluford and Agnes Shiflett Morris and was 67 years of age. Besides her adopted daughter she is survived by an adopted son Gordon Garrison of Boonesville; two sisters and three brothers and one granddaughter Miss Lois Davis of Free Union. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Mission Home Episcopal Church the service to be conducted by the Rev. George Fishk. Burial will follow in the churchyard. Tallie L. Morris, 35, of 9th St. NW died yesterday in a Charlottesville hospital. Born Dec. 28, 1934 in Albemarle County, he was the son of William and Edna Morris of Stanardsville. He was employed by Acme Visible Records in Crozet. Survivors other than his parents are a daughter, Mrs. Eddie Garrison of Charlottesville; seven brothers, Russell L., Earl, Wilbert and Sammy Morris of Charlottesville, Roy Morris of Washington, D.C., Talmadge Morris of Chesapeake Beach, Md., and Dewey Morris of Stanardsville; and six sisters, Mrs. Tallie Roach, Mrs. Alex Morris, and Mrs. Esperd Shifflet of Stanardsville, Mrs. Gordon Via and Mrs. Alvin Shifflett of Crozet, and Mrs. Richard Lee of Plainfield, N.J. Tanner Brooks Morris, 21, of Mountain Valley, went home to be with Jesus March 29, 2012. Tanner was born April 5, 1990, in Harrisonburg, and was the son of Jerry and Sandy Morris. He was a 2008 graduate of Broadway High School and a key player on the 2007 District Champion football team. Tanner played offensive guard and was All District 1st Team and All Region Honorable Mention. Tanner was a student at Fairmont State University, where he was studying business and music. He was an accomplished drummer, playing in a band and occasionally on several area church worship teams. Tanner loved people and had a contagious smile. He encouraged friends, family and people he didn’t even know. He loved his family and was an awesome big brother to both his sisters, Kelsea Elaine Morris and Aubree Faith Morris. Tanner had a strong faith and while he enters his new life in Heaven, he will continue to give life here on earth as an organ donor. In addition to his parents and sisters, Tanner is survived by his future wife, Kelsie Marie Adams of Timberville; grandparents, Joe and Joan Brooks and Frances Morris, and great- grandmother, Eunice Shifflett, all of Harrisonburg; aunts, Tammy Garber and husband, Vic, of Roanoke, Amy Nesselrodt and husband, Mike, of Harrisonburg and Jacque Cramer and husband, Robert, of Clover Hill; and uncle, Jeff Morris and wife, Rhonda and her son, Ty Reed, also of Harrisonburg. Funeral services for Miss Thelma Morris, 60, who died Friday, June 29, 1973, in an Alexandria Hospital, were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mount Olivet Christian Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Miss Morris, daughter of the late Lev and Ela Morris of Dyke, moved to Alexandria from Stanardsville 20 years ago. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Knight of Stanardsville and Mrs. Winona Madren of Elkton; and one brother, Norman W. Morris of Virginia Beach. Rev. Thelma Elizabeth Morris, 89, of Crozet, VA passed away on Saturday, November 7th. She was born on June 4, 1931 to the late Wilmer and Gertrude McDaniel. She is survived by her children, Wanda Moon, Donna Davis and her husband Dabney, Dillard Morris and his girlfriend, Kim Henson; her siblings Raymond McDaniel and Christine Robbs, her 4 grandchildren, Angie, Josh, Mandy and Matthew and her 9 great grandchildren (Caleb, Lydia, Noah, Nathan, Zachary, Jonathan, Daniel, Cody and Tyler.) In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Morris, her son in law, Wesley Moon and her siblings, Otis McDaniel, Bill McDaniel, Herbert McDaniel, Floyd McDaniel, Thomas McDaniel, Claire Kingrea, and Emogene Collier. Thelma was a long- time member of Browns Cove Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, kept the financial records, helped with the apple butter making, cleaned the church, visited and prepared food for the sick, and anything else that needed to be done. She taught her family that serving other people was a way of life. For the past 10 years, Thelma has been in long term care and was residing at Albemarle Health and Rehab at the time of her passing. The family would like to thank the staff for their love and care for her. Due to Covid-19, the family is planning a graveside service only at Holly Memorial Gardens on November 13th at 11am with the Pastor Rodney Chapman officiating. All are welcome. Mrs. Morris was a member of Oakwood Memorial Baptist Church of Richmond, Va., and First Bible Baptist of Stanardsville, Va. Thelma had a passion for music at an early age. She enjoyed singing gospel hymns, bluegrass and country music. Above all, her love was in family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be truly missed. Thelma is survived by her children, Wally Morris (Janet), Richard Morris (Iva), Debbie Mask (James) and Tommy Morris; her grandchildren, Michael, Crystal, Stephanie, Kevin and Sherri; siblings, Virginia Snow, Lena Woodson (Jerry), Edith Conley (Elvin) and Charles Roach (Mona); and five great-grandchildren. Thelma Mae "Granny" Cash, 94, went to be with her Savior, the man she worked for. She was an avid Christian and a member of the Ray of Hope Church in Harrisonburg for many years. She was the daughter of the late Stuart and Rosie Morris of Grottoes. On May 27, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harry T. Cash, who preceded her in death in July 1975. Theodore "Ted" Morris, 79, of Earlysville, gained his angel wings on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Ted was born on March 8, 1933, in Greene County, to the late Fred and Gertie Morris. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie and Landon; and a sister, Maxine. He was employed by Murray Manufacturing for many years as well as being an original member of the Earlysville Volunteer Fire Department. He married his lifelong love, Eleanor June, on July 24, 1961. Theodore Lebert Morris, 80, of Ruckersville, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his residence. Lebert was born June 3, 1936, the youngest son of the late Jesse J. Morris and Virgie Roach Morris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three older brothers, James Wilbert Morris, Jerome W. Morris and Albright E. Morris. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 57 years, Glenda Lawson Morris; two special nieces who were like sisters, Jannie Mae Greiman of Stanardsville, Va. and Gloria Faye Shifflett of Elkton, Va.; great-niece, Priscilla Faye Shifflett of Shenandoah, Va.; and other nieces, nephews and cousins. Lebert retired in 1998 from Acme Visible Records in Crozet, Va. after 36 years of service. In his younger days, he played softball with a passion. He was an excellent third baseman. Some of his favorite things were softball, Chevrolets (always owned a pretty vehicle), peanut M & M's, and Mountain Dew. He will be remembered for his quick wit, always had a ready answer, and a smile that spread from ear to ear. Crozet Youth Is Drowning Victim
Thomas Morris, 14, Dies In County Lake
Another drowning accident - the fourth of the summer season - occurred yesterday afternoon at Henley's Lake, located between Crozet and White Hall. The victim was Thomas S. Morris, 14-year-old son Of Mrs. Bertie Morris, of Crozet, and the late Elzie Morris. The youth, with two of his older brothers and two friends, was in a boat, which capsized, throwing all five of the occupants into deep water. Twelve members of the first aid and rescue squads of the Charlottesville Fire Department, in the charge of Chief Charles H, Page, reached the scene about 3:45 P.M. After a search which lasted for more than two and a half hours the body was finally located in 25 feet of water, and brought to the Preddy Funeral Home here. Besides his mother, the youth is survived by three brothers, Gordon P. Morris, of New York City, and Curtis and Hollis Morris, of Crozet; two sisters, Mrs. Curtis Glass and Mrs. Cecil Wood; and his grandfather, John A. Morris, all of Waynesboro. The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Crozet Baptist Church, and interment will follow in Rock Gate Cemetery.

Thurman Curtis Morris of Crozet, Virginia, lost his earthly journey on Saturday, March 21, 2020, after a battle with Alzheimers. Curtis is rejoicing in his eternal home with the Lord our Savior, who he served throughout his life. Curtis was born on October 18, 1942. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Monroe "Buff" Morris; his mother, Retha Ellen Shifflett Morris Herring; his stepfather, James Herring; and two brothers-in-law, Julian "Gete" Shifflett and Kenneth "Earl" Morris. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joyce Ann Morris (his caregiver); his two sons, Anthony Curtis Morris of Crozet, Va., and Duane Douglas Morris (Tracey Kennedy Morris) of Afton, Va. He treasured his three grandchildren, Eleanor Grace Morris, Lydia Faith Morris, and Laylon Dean Varner. Curtis is also survived by his three sisters and one brother, Geneva Shifflett of Baltimore, Md., Charlotte "Maxine" Bolyard (Leonard) of Crozet, Va., Florence "Virginia" Morris of Dale City, Va., and Ernest "Ernie" Morris (Patricia) of Crozet, Va. Curtis' greatest attribute in life all began in the year 1968 at an Assembly of God church in Baltimore, Md., where he gave his life over to the Lord our Savior. This decision changed the course of his life and the future for his family, friends, and his ministries. He was a faithful member of Covenant Church of God in Charlottesville. Curtis preached the gospel in churches for over 40 years and received his Evangelist License Certificate for church of God in May of 1983. Curtis continued his outreach ministries at two nursing homes, Crescent Hall and Midway Manor. Curtis and his wife Joyce would bless audiences with their southern gospel singing in many different venues. Curtis was always available to share God's word and pray for others. It was his Kingdom work. Curtis was the owner of Curtis Heating and Cooling that he began in Crozet in 1980. He served his community well and made many new friendships with employees and customers along the way. The company continues to serve the community with the same foundational values that Curtis began. Aside from building up his company, Curtis had many hobbies that he enjoyed, such as; traveling with his wife to the Caribbean, attending gospel singings, watching UVA and L.A. Dodger games, driving his Chevy 2 Nova, and cooking his specialty mac n' cheese. He was also faithful in attending the events of his two sons and three grandchildren. Curtis lived his life for his wife, sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, friends, extended family, his dog "Sadie" and a special friendship with Kenny Layne, but most of all he lived for the Kingdom of God. Tillie Morris, of Nortonsville passed from this life to the great beyond May 23, 1933. Mr. Morris was the oldest man in that community. Had he lived to see his next birthday he would have been 84 years old. Mr. Morris was a man of firm qualities and could be depended upon; always found on the right side of a question as he saw it and it was no use to try to change him. He was a good citizen, leading an exemplary life. If Tillie Morris was your friend, you had a friend that would stand by you. He was a devoted member of the Christian church for over 50 years, a member of the old Mt. Union church in Bacon Hollow. When it was thought best to move the organization in the neighborhood of Dyke, he united with the Mr. Olivet organization. This writer remembers well when the public schools had some enemies, and how Mr. Morris stood by them with his vote and voice. One of the great characteristics of Mr. Morris was the love and devotion to his family, which consisted of his wife and 11 children, who are located at the following places; Quint Morris, Somerset, Pa.; Anna Morris, Crozet; Will Morris, Ruckersville; Doff Morris, Nortonsville; Mrs. Flossie Collier, Stanardsville; Mrs. Henrietta Collier, Gordonsville; Mrs. Clemma, Charlottesville; Clydie and Zulemma, Lynchburg, and Panda and Litty, at Nortonsville, who stayed with their father and tenderly cared for them. Mr. Morris had 75 grandchildren, all of who were loyally devoted to him. Mr. Morris was tenderly laid to rest beside his wife in Mt. Olivet cemetery in the presence of many of his relatives, friends, and neighbors, who respected and loved him because they all felt they had lost a friend. The funeral services were conducted by Elder H.S. Knight, who visited Mr. Morris in this last illness Mr. E. Y. Vernon was the undertaker. The pallbearers were his relatives and friends. Travis Shane Morris, of Charlottesville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 28, 2019. Travis was born on May 26, 1972, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to James Edward Morris and Mamie Lucille Hall Madison. By profession Travis was a skilled Mason, but his true passion in life was the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who spent lots of time in the woods or on the river with family and friends. Travis especially enjoyed sharing knowledge about the outdoors. A fabulous storyteller, he was often poetically descriptive to the tiniest of details; captivating his nieces and nephews, and anyone else around, with tall tales and infinite wisdom from his life experiences. He was an excellent cook who loved sharing his latest culinary masterpiece with everyone. Travis also had a knack for finding and creating unique things he knew his family would love. He often came home with a beautiful cross for his mother or vintage treasures for his Uncle Wayne's special projects. Wherever Travis was, so was laughter and love. Travis was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Morris; brother, Landon Shawn Morris; paternal grandparents, Wilbert Herbert Morris and Minnie Herrion Morris; and maternal grandparents Charles Edward Hall Sr. and Leona Pearl Haney Hall. Travis is survived by his loving mother, Mamie Lucille Hall Madison; sister, Sonya Renee Houchens (Andy); brother, James Aaron Morris (Donielle Abel); sister-in-law, Rebecca Morris; nephews, Wesley, Aaron, Drew, Ryan, Brandon and Jacob; nieces Brittany, Cati, Ashley and Kimi; seven great-nieces and nephews along with numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins who cared for him deeply. In addition, he had many friends, three of whom were particularly close and lifelong, Frank DeHooge, Robbie Pace and Chris Billups. Twyman Clee Morris, 87, of Stanardsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 29, 2007, at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was born October 4, 1920, in Geer, Greene County, and was the son of the late Thomas Morris and Rosa Weaver Morris Deane. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Bruce Morris; two sisters, Mamie Deane and Bertha Raynes; and two brothers, Welford and Marvin Morris. Mr. Morris was a former employee of Virginia Metal in Orange, and retired as a machinist from Cooper Industries in 1982. Since his retirement, he spent much of his time in his workshop. He enjoyed being with his family and sitting on the porch rocking, chatting and enjoying God's great creation. He was a member of Pine Ridge Church of the Brethren in Earlysville, and a United States Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Morris is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 61 years, Virginia Knight Morris, of Stanardsville; children, Jacquelyn Heatwole of Roanoke, Karron Good and her husband, James, of Madison, Linda Parrish and her husband, Ronnie, of Stanardsville, Richard Morris and his wife, Barbara, Jeff Morris and his wife, Linda, all of Stanardsville; one brother, Norris Deane of Stanardsville; on sister, Lois Brandy of Port Richie, Florida; one son-in-law, Stanley Heatwole of Stanardsville; nine grandchildren, Steve Morris, Anthony Heatwole, Cynthia Deane, Mark Heatwole, Kevin Good, Candace Patterson, Luke Morris, Cranston Parrish, and Emily Morris; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend, "Buzzy" Deane, whose visits and friendship meant so much. Vergie was born July 16, 1916, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late William Morris and Edna Walton Morris and wife of the late Tallie A. Roach. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Marie Shifflett and Elizabeth Smith, nine brothers and five sisters. She was a member of the Middle River Pentecostal Church. Vergie was a devoted mother, grandmother and a friend to all. She was the oldest of 15 children with one surviving sister, Esther. Vergie was a homemaker, loving to care for others. She will be remembered for her cooking, sewing, love for everyone and most of all her walk with God. Her happiest childhood days were spent in Sandy Bottom Hollow in Elkton. She is survived by three sons, Bill Roach and wife, Liz, of Ruckersville, Wayne Roach and wife, Marlene, and Enos Roach, all of Stanardsville. Surviving grandchildren are Jackie, Gary and Steve Shifflett, Vivian Knight, Glen Roach, Valerie Thacker, Vanessa Thacker, Dwayne Roach, Jeff Roach and BJ Smith; 17 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; a special little boy, Caleb Deane; a special little girl, Valorie Hyatt; and a dear loved one, JoAnna McInturff. Vernon Elvest Morris Sr., 71, of Charlottesville entered into his Lord's peace October 24, 2006, at a local hospital. He was a charter member of Mount View Baptist Church. Born April 1, 1935, in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late William Lewis Morris and Dencie Marshall Morris. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, George, James and Jerry. Surviving him is one son, V. Elvest Morris Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Keswick. Also surviving are five sisters, Helen Carroll and her husband, Robert, of Buckingham, Charlotte Woodson and Teresa White of Charlottesville, Mary Coleman of Roanoke, Shirley Overstreet and her husband, Raymond, of Rocky Mount; and one brother, Lewis Morris of Goochland. He is also survived by his former wife, lifelong friend, and mother of his son, Marie Morris, of Keswick. Elvest was always a hard worker, as a dry cleaner for the majority of his life, and in his later years, as a self -employed distributor for The Daily Progress. He continued to work until his health declined and he retired in 1999. He resided with his sister, Charlotte, who provided loving care and assistance. Elvest was a passionate sports fan. He played high school baseball at McIntire High School, and played church and city league softball for many years, including participation on numerous championship teams. He was a lifelong supporter of University of Virginia athletic programs, as well as a passionate fan of the New York Yankees, the Washington Redskins, and later in life, the Atlanta Braves. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit at the University of Virginia Medical Center for their excellent care during his last days. On Sunday, March 3, 2019, Vernon Elvest Morris Jr. passed from this life to the next. Elvest's enigmatic personality generated passion about many things in his life. One such passion was sports. His first "Love" was football, the Green Bay Packers to be specific, and he loved the players' uniform he got for Christmas while still in grade school. Later he came to love the Redskins, as well, and when he finally got season tickets, he was like a child. He enjoyed taking family, friends and clients to games and even met a few of his idols during pregame festivities. He also loved the Yankees and one of his favorite trips was to New York City to tour the old Yankee Stadium before it was torn down, and to catch a game at the new stadium, as well. He was a fierce and loyal fan. Elvest took to work early after high school where he was employed by The Fairfax Hotel, a historic Embassy Row hotel in D.C. that opened in 1927. It was here that he learned many important life lessons from celebrities and high powered political figures, including President Ronald Reagan. But, as time passed he came home to begin his college days at Virginia Tech, priding himself on being a Hokie for life (though he could be found cheering for the UVA basketball team). He transferred from VT to UVA's McIntire School of Commerce and later to Liberty University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Accounting. After college, his accounting career began as a staff accountant. But, he soon became a Certified Public Accountant and chose to hang his shingle in the Town of Orange where he served clients at modest prices. He was proud of that and loved many of his clients deeply, just as he did his family and friends. Born on June 26, 1958, Elvest was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Elvest Morris Sr. and Marie Lively Morris. He is survived by his aunt, Shirley Lively; aunt, Sallie Lively; uncle, Julius Lively; and two nephews from his marriage to Karen Dowell, Michael Allen Condoulis and Evan Condoulis. Not having siblings, he was also close to his cousins, Ann Cornett, Frank Lively, and Diana Lively, and their families, who also survive him. Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Hill and Wood, 201 N. 1st Street, Charlottesville, Va. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at The Woolen Mill Chapel, 1819 E. Market St., Charlottesville, Va., followed by a graveside service at Monticello Memory Gardens, 670 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy., Charlottesville, Va. WINCHESTER - Vernon R. Morris, 51, of Cedar Creek Grade, Winchester died Friday at Winchester Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Morris was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Carl E. and Delia Shifflett Morris. He worked for Julian Glass at Rose Hill Farm and was a trustee and treasurer of Friendship Chapel Church. On Jan. 15, 1949, he married the former Helen Cooley, who survives. Also surviving are a son, David Wayne Morris of Winchester; two brothers, Carl E. Morris of Harrisonburg and Sharley E. Morris of Winchester; and two sisters, Arbutus Dugan of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Geraldine Baker of Stephens City. The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jones Funeral Home by the Rev. Thornton J. Hartley. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery at Stephens City. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today.

Vickie "Trudy" Lynn Morris, 44, of Charlottesville, passed on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at a local hospital. She is survived by her husband, Gary W. Morris of Charlottesville; beloved in-laws, Avis and Ollie Morris of Free Union; a sister and her husband, Ann and Lonnie Whittaker; a niece and her husband, Robin and Michael Rose, their children, Austin and Emily Rose, and a nephew, Bobby Whittaker, all of Richmond; stepson and his wife, Doug and Kelly Clay, and their sons Dusty and Cody (her godsons) of Stanardsville. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas A. Tuell. Trudy was born in Bristol, Va., to the late Dorothy and Junior Orbin Tuell. The family moved to Richmond in 1965. Trudy and Gary married and moved to Charlottesville in May of 1977. Since 1977, she has managed Cary's Camera Shop, where she has many beloved customers due to the outstanding service she provided throughout the years. Trudy is beloved by many who always knew she would be there for them, and she will be greatly missed. We will not mourn her passing, but mourn our loss of a great light that touched our lives. A graveside service at Free Union Church of the Brethren will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at Teague Funeral Home. Teague Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by three grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 29 great great grandchildren and three great great great grandchildren. Mrs. Victoria S. Morris, 68, of RFD2, Crozet and a native of Greene County, died Saturday, April 25, 1964 in a Charlottesville, hospital. Born November 24, 1895, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Icey Shifflett. She leaves her husband Leonard M. Morris; three sons: Alton Morris, Fred Morris, and Tim Morris, all of RFD 2, of Crozet; two sisters, Mrs. Melvin Morris of Mission Home and Mrs. Florie Wood of Harrisonburg; a brother, Mack Shifflett of Dyke and twelve grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at two o'clock in the Prize Hill Church at Boonesville with burial in the church cemetery.

North Point Road resident Viola Morris died of natural causes Sept. 28 at age 83. Born on April 13, 1921, in Greene County, Va., the former Viola Morris moved to DeBoy Avenue in 1947. She is survived by four children, Joyce Seay of Georgia, Victoria Morris and Barbara Armentrout of Dundalk and Claude Morris of Essex, sisters Lillie Davis and Reva Shifflett of Virginia, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by mother Louise Morris, brother Ernest Morris and sister Ressie Shifflett. Services were held Oct. 1 in the chapel of Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.

Virgie Irene Maupin Morris, 76, of Keene, died peacefully Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in North Garden, Va., June 1, 1928, the daughter of the late Percy Linwood and Bessie Jones Maupin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elson C. Morris, and her loving dog, Penny. Mrs. Morris loved the 33 years she was employed by the County of Albemarle as a bus driver and assistant. She was a member of Fox Memorial Baptist Church in Scottsville, loved spending time with her family and her canine companions, Pixie and Lucky. She was an avid animal lover and had a great love of cooking for her family and friends at family gatherings. Virginia Knight Morris, 89, of Stanardsville, Va., passed away peacefully in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at her home. She was born on June 29, 1931 to the late Leonard Knight and Evaline Knight. She was preceded in death by her husband, Twyman Clee Morris; daughter, Jacqueline Heatwole; brothers, George Knight and Homer Knight; sisters, Lessie Knight, Lily Williams, Arlene Vurnakes; grandson, Bruce Morris, Jr.; and son-in-law, Ronnie Parrish. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her favorite time was cooking for her family and friends and she was known for her Sunday dinners. She was a devoted Christian and treasured the friendships with her church family. Virginia Lee Ferrell Morris of Shenandoah, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. Mrs. Morris was born in Shenandoah, and was a daughter of the late Conn and Mary Merica Ferrell. She retired from the Genie Company in 1995. On Oct. 1, 1955, she married Ben F. Morris, who survives. She also is survived by a daughter, Vickie Shifflett of Shenandoah; three sisters, Hilda Tappy and Helen Painter, both of Shenandoah and Nina Morris of Grottoes; two grandsons and a number of nieces and nephews. The Rev. Hudson Nuckols will conduct a graveside service 11 a.m. Thursday at Rest Haven Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
