BONNIE JOYCE SHIFFLETT MILLER
Bonnie J. Miller, a 14 years resident of Linthicum, died of complications from a brain tumor May 4, at University of Maryland medical Center after a six week illness. She was 54. Mrs. Miller was born Aug. 19, 1950, at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. She enjoyed taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Kenneth Miller; one son Karl Miller of Brooklyn Park; her father Maynard Shifflett of Woodbine; her mother, Francis Starr of River beach; three brothers, Larry Shifflett of Atco, N. J., Perry Shifflett of Woodbine and Joe Lanasa of South Baltimore; one sister, Sandra DeBelcourt of Sykesville; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Daugherty Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Cletus D. "Pete" Miller, 75, of Silver Spring, Md., formerly of Sangerville, died April 20, 1992, in Shady Grove Hospital in Silver Spring, Md. Mr. Miller was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Sangerville and was a son of the late Charles D. and Cliffie B. Carson Miller. He moved to Maryland 50 years ago and was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Fannie H. Shifflett Miller; two daughters, Peggy A. Emswiler of Gaithersburg, Md. and Edna L. Fluke of Everett, Pa.; two sisters, Gladys V. Michael of Mount Solon and Lula M. Miller of Bridgewater Home; five granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. The Rev. Luther Ramsey will conduct the funeral at 10 a.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Bridgewater. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Sangerville. Clarence "Bud" Edgar Miller MAJ (Ret, USA) Clarence "Bud" Edgar Miller, 83, of Dry Fork, Va., died Friday, May 10, 2013, while a patient at Danville Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born August 19, 1929, in Covington, Va., to the late Gertrude Shiflett Miller and the late John Edgar Miller, he was married to Louise Orndorff Miller, who survives, of the residence. Mr. Miller was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, Danville, Va., where he was treasurer and served on several church committees. He retired with the rank of Major, after serving for 25 years, in the Virginia National Guard. He also owned Miller Systems in Danville and was a member of the Toastmasters. Mr. Miller also worked for Dan River, Inc. as a Systems Analyst. In addition to his wife, Mr. Miller is survived by a daughter, Kathy Miller O'Conner and husband, Owen, of Covington, Va.; two sons, Clarence "Max" E. Miller Jr. and wife, Donna, of Huntsville, Ala., and Mark Miller and wife, Karen, of Danville. He is also survived by one brother, John L. Miller, nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Steven Miller. A memorial service will be held at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 1452 Stony Mill Rd, Danville, Virginia 24540-6910, 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, officiated by the Rev. Susan Hannah. Eileen S. Miller, 78, of Glen Burnie died Oct. 11 at her home. The cause of death was not available. She was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Maryland. Mrs. Miller was an Anne Arundel County crossing guard. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, cards, traveling and bowling. She also was an Orioles fan. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, James F. Miller Sr.; three sons, Richard W. and Joseph R. Miller of Glen Burnie and James F. Miller Jr. of Randallstown; one daughter, Charmaine E. Shifflett of Glen Burnie; one sister, Evelyn Glaspy of New Jersey; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held yesterday at Singleton Funeral Home, Interment was in Glen Haven Memorial Park. Fannie H. Miller, 84, of Everett, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, in Bedford, Pa. Mrs. Miller was born May 3, 1921, in Greene County and was a daughter of the late Thomas and Barbara Frazier Shiflett. On Nov. 2, 1937, she married Cletus "Pete" Miller; he preceded her in death April 1992. Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Emswiler of Frederick, Md., and Edna Miller of Everett, PA. Five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and 15 nieces and nephews also survive. Pastor Joseph W. Hagenlocker will conduct the funeral 12 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Bridgewater. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Bridgewater. Goldie Lee Mullins, 68 of Shenandoah, passed away July 16, 2012 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. Mrs. Mullins was born December 21, 1943 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of Gladys Knight Miller, of Port Republic, and the late Clyde Miller. She grew up in the Pineville/McGaheysville area and retired from Rockingham County Schools, working at McGaheysville Elementary. Her life revolved around her grandkids, whom she cared for and treasured the time she spent with them. Besides her mother, Mrs. Mullins is survived by daughters, Tammy S. Dennis, Shenandoah; Lee Dennis, McGaheysville; brother, Jesse Miller, Lacey Springs, sister, Helen Carper, Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Kassie Dennis, Savana Mullins, Jade Mullins. A Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. Pastor Jimmy Kite will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the East Lawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends 6 to 8pm Wednesday evening (tonight) at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. HENRY RAY MILLER
Henry Ray Miller, 93, died Sunday, November 2, 2003, at the Augusta Medical Center after a period of declining health. He resided in Augusta County at Meadow Knolls Farm, 455 Stuarts Draft Highway, Staunton. He was born to Charles and Myrtle Miller on March 20, 1910 in Blue Rock, W.V. He graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in Huttonsville, WV and attended Potomac State School and Davis and Elkins College. He taught school in West Virginia before moving to Waynesboro in October 1933. He retired from DuPont in 1972 with 38 years of service. He had a lifelong love of farming and raised cattle in Augusta County since 1950. He was president of Meadow Knolls Corporation, an agricultural company. He was active in the Greenville Ruritan Club for a number of years and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Trimboli Miller. He is survived by three children, Teresa Wampler and her husbad Steve, Kenneth Miller and his wife Joyce of Augusta County and Robert Miller and his wife Kay of Wilmington, Delaware. He is also survived by a brother, Otto Miller of Richmond,Va., formerly of Waynesboro. He is survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled from 7-8:00 P.M. Monday, November 3, 2003 at the Reynolds Funeral Service of Stuarts Draft. The funeral service will be conducted by Father J. Stephen Hickman at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 4, 2003, followed by burial at Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ronald Miller, Edwin Miller, Mitch Smalley, Tom Viets, James Miller, John Campbell and Todd Wade. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Cash, Michael Eller, Richard Robertson, Wesley Wampler, James Woods and Wesley Woods. Herman C. Dick” Miller, 87 of McGaheysville was dead on arrival at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg on June 6, 1992. Mr. Miller was born Aug 17, 1904, at Pleasant Valley, Md., and was a son of the late Luther and Mrs. Miller. He moved from Maryland to McGaheysville in 1947, and for the past two years he had lived with his sister-in-law, Flossie K Rogers, at Route 1, Port Republic. He was a retired truck driver. His wife, Mabel Ensley Miller, died Aug. 9, 1974. He is survived by a brother, William Miller of Massanutten Village. The Rev. Wayne Wright will conduct a private, graveside service today at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville. Kyger-Pence Funeral Home near McGaheysville is handling the arrangements.

Irene Elizabeth Miller, 81, of Mill Lane in Elkton, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. Mrs. Miller was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Stephen Brunk and Mary Allen Hensley. She was a lifetime resident of this area and a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church. She had worked at Sancar, the Elkton Dry Cleaners and The Alliance Company. On Dec. 23, 1967, she married Lawrence E. Miller; he survives. Also surviving are a son, Gary W. Shifflett of Elkton; three stepsons, Terry Miller of Nashville, Tenn., Steven Miller of Ruckersville and Timmy Miller of Ocala, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Jenkins of Asheville, N.C., and Norma Barb of Harrisonburg; a brother, Charles Hensley of Elkton; four sisters, Annie Hensley, Ellen Williams, Evelyn Brill and Louise Goines, all of Elkton; a grandson, a number of stepgrandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and a number of step-great-grandchildren. The Rev. Alda Gunn will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elkton Evangelical United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elk Run Cemetery. Funeral services for James "Flash" Miller Sr., 83, of Brooklyn Park will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie. Mr. Miller died in his home Aug. 11 of congestive heart failure. He was born March 5, 1924 in Baltimore. Mr. Miller worked as a milkman with Sealtest Dairy for 41 years. He served with the Merchant Marines in 1942. Mr. Miller was a member of the Ferndale Community Club, Lake Shore Democratic Club and Glen Burnie Mall Walkers. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and riding his bike. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eileen S. Miller; two brothers, Joseph Miller and Charles Miller; and his sister, Bernadine Zawitowski. Survivors include his sons, James F. Miller, Jr. of Brooklyn Park, Richard Miller of Florida, and Joseph "Randy" Miller of Glen Burnie; his daughter, Charmaine E. Shifflett of Glen Burnie; his sister, Charmaine Lombardo of Carney. He also is survied by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 at the funeral home, 1 Second Ave. SW, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Burial will take place at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Joyce Ann Miller Corbin, 71, of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 11, 2013. She was born on November 22, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Lona Shifflett Miller and Irving Holiday Miller. Also predeceasing her was her husband of 46 years, Dennis Levi Corbin. Mrs. Corbin worked for UVA Children and Youth Center and also for the Department of the Army, retiring from the latter. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church. She was a devoted mother and wife. She endured many obstacles throughout her life but overcame them with her wonderful positive outlook. Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Fox and her husband, Arnold, of Troy; her son, Durwin Irving Corbin and his wife, Rebecca, of Greene County; and stepson, Levi Corbin and his wife, Shirley, of Culpeper; four grandchildren, Stephen James Brown, Jeremy Paul Brown, Tyler Austin Brown, and Caleb Mawyer; a sister, Beatrice Powell of Gordonsville; a nephew, Gary Davis and his wife, Sandy; a niece, Janet Peyton; and many other nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family. She was loved by so many. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Hill and Wood Funeral Chapel with Mr. Jeff Villio officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at the funeral home. Lawrence Edward "Abie" Miller, 91, of Elkton, died Aug. 19, 2007, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. Mr. Miller was born June 17, 1916, in Natural Bridge in Rockbridge County, and was the son of the late John Wesley and Annie (Ayers) Miller. He was also preceded in death by a son, Lawrence "Dickie" Miller, a daughter, Darla K. Smith, and great-grandson, Christopher J. "C. J." Miller. Mr. Miller had worked for Merck & Company for several years and later owned and operated Miller’s Plumbing in Elkton until retirement. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the Gooden Brothers VFW Post No. 9292 and the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton. On Dec. 23, 1967, he married Irene (Hensley) Miller, who died April 13, 2005. Survivors include three sons, Terry Miller and wife, JoAnne, Nashville, Tenn., Steven Miller, Ruckersville, Timmy Miller and wife, Carla, Ocala, Fla.; three daughters, Norma Barb and husband, Kale, Harrisonburg, Phyllis Jenkins and husband, Ralph, Asheville, N.C., Juanita Roudabush and husband, Buddy, Shenandoah; a stepson, Gary Shifflett and wife, Wanda, Elkton; a very special friend, Ruby Miller, Roanoke; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton. Mrs. Hinkle Dies In Pa
McGAHEYSVILLE. Sept, 11 — Mrs. Edgar Hinkle, wife of Edgar Hinkle, died at Palmyra, Pa., on Sept. 3. She had been admitted only a few hours to the hospital before she died, and her death was a shock to her family and friends. Mrs. Hinkle was the former Mary V. Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Miller, of McGaheysville, and was 56 years of age. She was well known and loved in this community where she was a resident prior to moving to Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband and the following children; five sons, Marvin Hinkle, of Lebanon, Pa.; John and Earl Hinkle, of Palmyra; Paul Hinkle, of California; Carl Richard Hinkle at home; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Lehman, and Mrs. Evelyn (Dolly) Sheplet, both of Palmyra. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Lydia Morris, of Harrisonburg; and four brothers, Herman, William and John Miller, of McGaheysville; and Ernest Miller, of Baltimore; and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday from the Palmyra Church of the Brethren, of which she was a member. The Rev. Frank B. Carper, assisted by the Rev. J. Herbert. Miller conducted the services, with burial in the Spring Creek Cemetery at Palmyra. Those attending the funeral; from this community were Mr. and Mrs. John Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Miller, William and Herman Miller, Mrs. Lydia Morris. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rogers, and Mrs. Lena Moore.

Otto Miller, 80, of 1100 German School Road, Richmond, Va., died early Tuesday morning, August 30, 2005, at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond. He was born July 25, 1925, in Randolph, W.Va., a son of the late Charles and Myrtle Shifflett Miller. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, and a past member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Waynesboro. Before retiring, he was the manager of numerous Kroger grocery stores, including Waynesboro, Radford, and lastly Martinsville. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Orel Miller, Sherman Miller and Henry Miller. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Julia W. Miller; a daughter, Sandra M. Brown of Charlottesville; two granddaughters, Andrea Dale White and her husband, Geoffrey of Front Royal, Cara Marie Lilley of Odenton, Md.; a great-granddaughter to be in October, Alexis Wade White; a sister-in-law, Mary Miller of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Augusta Memorial Park by Rev. Gary Milstead. Military Honors will be conducted at the grave by the Waynesboro V.F.W. Post #2424. Violet Hudnall Miller, 95, of Nitro passed away June 3, 2003, in Belle's Personal Care Home after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bessie Miller; husbands, Lester Hudnall and William "Bill" Miller; brothers, Harold, Joe, Thomas and Edward Miller; son-in-law, Bill Priddy; grandson, Kirk Casto; and stepsons, Joe and Richard Miller. Mrs. Miller had been a resident of Nitro since 1933 and was a member of Nitro Church of Christ. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Ann Hudnall Priddy, Evelyn Hudnall Casto and husband, Corky, and Lester Hudnall Jr. and wife, Doris, all of Nitro; stepchildren, Dolores Miller Duff and husband, Parvin, of Ocala, Fla., Helen Miller Hawes and husband, Bill, of Nitro; three sisters, Thelma Postlethwaite and Marian Garton, both of Nitro, Sue Randolph and husband, Kenneth, of Point Pleasant; one brother, Vernon Miller and wife, Jerry, of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Rusty Casto, Bill Casto and wife, Becky, Todd Hudnall, Lisa Hudnall, Kin Priddy and wife, Jan, Dr. Jeff Priddy and Lynn Priddy; two great-grandchildren, Katie Priddy and Clark Priddy; six stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
